Monroe Athletic Hall of Fame Welcomes 2 New Members

The Monroe High School Athletic Hall of Fame was started in 1982 and including this year’s Inductees, now has 52 members. Their Hall of Fame Plaques are displayed on “Mainstreet” outside of the Varsity Gym. The 2025 Induction Class includes Tad Kilburn (Class of 2006) and Josh Herron (Class of 2007).

Tad Kilburn 2002-2006
  • An all-around athlete with 13 Varsity Letters – (4) Football, (3) Basketball, (2) Soccer, (3) Track, (1) Tennis. But Tad's biggest contribution to Monroe Athletics was on the Football field.
  • Captain of the 2005 Football Team that won the Regional Championship. That season he was Co-QB, Starting Safety on Defense, Returned Kickoffs and Punts, was the Punter and Kickoff Specialists, as well as Place Kicker. He literally only left the field when splitting time at QB.
  • He was voted 1st Team All MML, 1st Team All Butler County, 1st Team All District and Middletown Journal Defensive Player of the year as a Defensive Back and 2nd Team All State as a Punter.
  • Prior to his incredible Senior season, he was 2nd Team All Butler County and All MML as a Sophomore, and 1st Team All Butler County and All MML as a Junior.
  • He also holds the school record for most passing yards (405) in a game (2004).
  • He attended Ball State University and played football there as well.
Josh Herron 2003-2007
  • He played 4 Varsity sports. (1) Baseball, (1) Basketball, (4) Football and (4) Track. 
  • In Football he was a 4-year varsity starter. 
  • He holds the school record for most receptions in a season (72) in 2006. 
  • He also holds the record for longest pass reception (98 yards) in 2005. 
  • Tied with 3 others for the school record of most TD receptions in a game (3) 2006. 
  • Tied with 2 others for most TD receptions in a season (11) 2006. 
  • He was 1st Team All State as Wide Receiver in 2006 and Honorable Mention All State in 2005. 
  • He was an electrifying offensive player on the great teams of 2005, 2006, but also played Defensive Back and returned Punts and Kickoffs. 
  • In Track he was the Team MVP and All State two years in a row, 2005-2006. He qualified for State in the Long Jump. 
  • He went on to play college football at Indiana State and Ohio Dominican and then played in the Arena Football League before ending his athletic career.
